Lynn-based mortgage brokers Barrett Batchelor are expanding their business by launching a new service.

Nigel Barrett and James Batchelor are partners in Barrett Batchelor Mortgage Services LLP, based on the town’s Tuesday Market Place.

Now, as well as continuing to offer mortgage advice, the pair are able to offer equity release with the launch of the new branch of their business Evergreen Equity Release Solutions.

James said: “We are delighted to be able to announce the launch of Evergreen Equity Release Solutions.

“With an ageing population expecting to spend a longer time in retirement, many are finding themselves still very active but wondering how to finance the changes in their lifestyle now they no longer have a wage coming in.

“People can find that they have built up a considerable amount of equity in their homes but at the same time, the income they receive from their pension is not what they had hoped for.

“Equity Release allows people aged 55 and over to release money from the home that they own and continue to live in it, in some cases without having to make monthly repayments.

“It can play a crucial role in helping to fund people’s retirement. In the modern Equity Release market there are a number of products to choose from, so there is likely to be a plan available to meet many people’s needs.”

Nigel Barrett added: “Barrett Batchelor Mortgage Services LLP has seen considerable business growth in the last few years, which has given us the confidence to expand into the exciting and innovative market of Equity Release.

“We are delighted to be able to continue to offer our clients the personal and quality service we have become well known for.

“This additional service means that we are now able to extend our relationship with our valued clients into their retirement years, when they no longer have the need for a traditional mortgage.”

Equity Release may not be suitable for everyone, as it depends upon individual circumstances.

It may affect entitlement to state benefits.

However, with the flexibility and safeguards which are built into the plans these days, such as the No Negative Equity Guarantee, Equity Release has already allowed thousands of home owners to safely tap into their housing wealth.

Equity Release is a lifetime mortgage. A broker fee is charged for advising and arranging an Equity Release mortgage, typically £750.
