An auctioneer’s hammer helped to raise lots of cash for Lynn Samaritans at a charity event held at Walpole Highway Village Hall.

Well-known local auctioneer Gwen Tester organised the Grand Auction and donated the commission and donations raised on all sales, which along with other profits, amounted to £600.

The money will be used solely to help King’s Lynn Samaritans continue their vital service to the whole community in and around West Norfolk.

Gwen was overwhelmed with the reaction and participation of everyone who attended as buyers, vendors or just spectators, and everyone had a great time. She said: “The result was beyond my wildest expectations.”

It was so successful that she plans to repeat the event at some time in the New Year.

Lynn Samaritans, who receive no financial help from the government and rely entirely on the generosity of the public, were delighted with the donation.
