Howard Junior School went into full David Walliams frenzy yesterday as they to bid to win a national competition to get the Little Britain star to visit the school by helicopter on World Book Day on March 5.
They even rolled out their own Gangsta Granny in the form of the school’s longest-serving member of staff, Maggie Sharpin.
The teaching assistant, a big fan of Walliams, has worked at the school for the best part of two decades and was one of many staff and pupils to dress for the occasion.
Headmaster Greg Hill is hoping Lynn residents will really get behind their bid to bring Walliams to the town.
He said: “We are using Twitter and writing letters to support our claim that we are David Walliams biggest fan!
“We even launched our own pop video for David.
“The likes of Colin Manning and Simon Rowe have already tweeted David giving us their support and we want the rest of King’s Lynn to get behind us.
“It wouldn’t just be for us though. If we win we would be happy for other local schools to come along as well.”
The school tweeted Walliams, saying: “Hey @davidwalliams all your favourite characters are waiting for you! Please come and see us! #WalliamsWhirlwind.”
