King’s Lynn’s own Lewis Murphy is set to release his new EP on August 15.
The EP contains four tracks and it’s really rather good too. Lewis’ vocal phrasing comes across in a similar vein to Lily Allen, and while it might not to be to everyone’s taste, it works well with the style of the music.
Indie is one of those genres that never really goes out of fashion and is more open to artistic licence than most genres. The tracks are upbeat and have a certain “feel good” factor to them. It’s quite summery too, so an August release is good timing, intentionally or otherwise.
The production applied is minimal, and the tracks seem to have a raw edge to them, but again this works to its advantage, as over polishing it would definitely have had a negative effect and detracted from its appeal. This is one of those “less is more” cases.
Lewis usually does well with his releases, the last one selling over 1,000 copies, and he’s looking to expand on that with this release, with a press campaign behind it to help push it to a bigger audience.
