Team members from the Wilko store in Lynn’s town centre have launched a brand new charity partnership with Prostate Cancer UK.

After raising £3,970 supporting Cancer Research UK last year, the store is now planning a year of activity to raise vital funds for Prostate Cancer UK – its new charity of the year – which fights to help more men survive prostate cancer and enjoy a better quality of life

Colin McKenzie, the store manager, said: “We had a wonderful year supporting Cancer Research UK and we hope the grand total raised by all the stores in the region made a real difference.

“As a community focused company, we’re always keen to help as many worthy causes in our local area as we can, and we chose Prostate Cancer UK to be our new charity of the year as a team.

“We can’t wait to get going with our fundraising – there’s plenty of ideas in the pipeline and we hope our loyal customers in Lynn and West Norfolk will support them and see us on our way to another amazing total over the next 12 months.”

Mark Bishop, director of fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, said: “Each year in the UK, over 40,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer, and one man dies every hour from the disease.

“The fundraising efforts of the Wilko team will help us to provide vital information and support to men, and find answers by funding research into causes and treatments.”

“Our thanks go to everyone involved at Wilko for helping to raise awareness of the disease, and funds for the charity.”
