A man has appeared in court today, Monday, November 3, charged with causing grievous bodily harm to a female nurse at Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital and assaulting another.

Thomas Williams, 34, of Green Way, Bromley, Kent, entered no plea to the charges, plus a third count of using racially aggravated abuse, during a brief hearing before magistrates in Lynn yesterday.

Police earlier said the charges related to an incident at the hospital, on Gayton Road, which reportedly happened at around 10.30am on Sunday.

The court heard that Williams was alleged to have thrown coffee over a female nurse who was treating him, before racially abusing one of the security guards who intervened.

A second nurse who also intervened was said to have suffered multiple fractures to her hand during the incident.

Magistrates declined jurisdiction on the case. Williams was released on conditional bail to appear before Norwich Crown Court on November 17.
