1,000 attend Lynn careers convention
More than 1,000 young people attended a special interactive careers convention, back by popular demand at Lynnsport.
After proving a hit in its debut last year, Opportunities West Norfolk last week returned, bigger and better than ever.
Teenagers aged 13 to 19, including youngsters from ten high schools in the region, were invited to explore a variety of careers in a number of different sectors, including hospitality, travel, leisure, design and health.
Around 35 local businesses exhibited at the event, including Adrian Flux Insurance, Knights Hill Hotel and RJ Herbert Engineering, and advice was on hand from the College of West Anglia and Connexions career service.
The convention, sponsored by a range of organisations including Connexions and West Norfolk Council, as officially opened by council leader Nick Daubney on Thursday morning.
Mr Daubney told the Lynn News: "It is the second time we have supported Opportunities West Norfolk and it built on the lessons learned last year.
"I talked to a lot of youngsters and they seemed to be interested and having quite a lot of fun."
Mrs Carol Comer, Connexions' Lynn and West Norfolk manager added: "It was very successful and students actively engaged with the exhibitors.
"It will definitely be held again next year and it will involve a lot more businesses and education institutions."
