£8,700 boost for causes

FUNDRAISERS in Great Massingham have provided a great boost to local good causes with a double cheque presentation at the village's St Mary's Church.

A successful coffee morning at the church with a tombola, stalls and raffle raised 700 for the Lynn News Special Care Baby Appeal.

Churchwarden Steve Hudson said: "We thought the appeal was very close to the hearts of people in the village. Several mothers have had children in the unit, it is something which is quite special and we wanted to help."

The presentation also saw 8,000 donated to the Macmillan unit at Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital following a summer ball organised by the Goodnights Entertainment Fundraising Group.

The donation will see 6,000 going towards the cost of palliative care equipment with the remaining 2,000 going to the palliative care complimentary fund.
