5,000 queued up for Food Fortnight's big helpings
WEST Norfolk's popular Food Fortnight has been hailed the most successful to date after more than 5,000 people tucked into the tasty event.
People from far and wide joined in the fourth food festival, which saw new events and old favourites held across the borough between Saturday, October 27, and Saturday, November 10.
There were also more than 100 local businesses, service providers, community groups and voluntary organisations getting involved.
Participants young and old got to travel Around the World in 80 Dishes, sample delights at Hunstanton Food Fayre, discover skin care from their larder, were taught how to eat healthily and turned their hand to bee keeping as part of a Grow Your Own event.
Christine Earnshaw, Deputy Mayor of Hunstanton and an organiser of Hunstanton Food Fayre, said: “Food Foodnight has been brilliant in raising awareness of how much excellent catering and food stuff we have on our doorstep.”
She also said the event, funded by the West Norfolk Partnership, had been great for Hunstanton, with more than 1,000 people visiting the Food Fayre and around 75 attending a talk by Sue Maddock.
Event co-ordinator Gill Daniels added: “The high attendance at the events this year is a real tribute to all involved. People have worked so hard at organising a really exciting and varied programme and I would like to thank everyone for making this year’s Food Fortnight so successful.”
