A grand effort for the RDA
A LOCAL facility which helps disabled youngsters learn to ride has been helped to the tune of more than £1,000 from two cheques.
West Norfolk Riding for the Disabled Association is based at the Magpie Centre, Wallington Hall at Runcton Holme.
It is Norfolk's only purpose-built riding centre specifically for the use of people with disabilities.
Among those who regularly use the centre are seven-year-old Downham rider Finlay Ryan.
Finlay – nominated for a Lynn News Super Kids award – has bravely fought a cruel and painful nerve disease which left him temporarily paralysed.
His dad, Neil, is a teacher at Downham High School, which raised 761.01 from a non-uniform day to help the centre.
A further 400 came from school cleaner Susan Weeds who, when celebrating her 50th birthday, invited guests to take part in a raffle instead of giving presents.
Both cheques were handed over at Wallington Hall, on Thursday, February 7, as pictured above.
