Actors cut ribbon of £100,000 revamp

Actors Karl Davies and Dominic Mafham took time out from filming scenes for ITV1 drama Kingdom to officially re-open the revamped White Hart pub in Ashill last week.

Landlord Eddie Dyble and his partner Teresa Kirby invited some of the cast and crew who have been filming sequences for the second series in the Swaffham area to join regulars for last Thursday's celebration.

The Church Street pub has had about 100,000 spent on renovating it inside and outside over the past two months by its owner, Admiral Taverns. Mr Dyble said the work included sprucing up the toilets, putting in a new bar and carpets, replacing gutters and soffits, and providing new patios, paths and a pergola at the front entrance.

Former Emmerdale star Karl Davies, who plays legal clerk Lyle in Kingdom, cut the ribbon at last week's ceremony. He was accompanied by Dominic Mafham, an experienced actor who has appeared in films such as The English Patient and Shooting Fish and on television in Midsomer Murders, Spooks and The Queen's Sister.
