All-action Gary hits £53,000

AFTER another gruelling charity challenge, an all-action South Wootton fundraiser has now raised around £53,000 for good causes.

Gary Quinlan (40), of Ullswater Avenue, has organised a range of daring sponsored events over the past nine years including a parachute jump, a London to Lynn cycle ride and various mountaineering expeditions.

In his latest fundraiser in July, Mr Quinlan and friends Keith Sandford and Andy Roof completed a 25-mile walk in Surrey's South Downs. A third friend, Peter Davis, provided back-up and support.

The walk raised 5,900 for Macmillan Cancer Relief, a charity Mr Ullswater has been supporting for around ten years, since losing both his parents and other family members to the disease.

Mr Quinlan said he planned to organise another fundraiser next year, although he had not yet decided what the challenge should be.

He would like to say a special thank you to everyone who supported him this year.

The team presented the cheque to representatives of the charity on Friday, October 5.
