All you need to know about Swaffham...

A ONE-STOP information shop is due to be launched at Swaffham today (Tuesday) to improve access to local services.

Several different agencies, including the Safer Neighbourhood Team, have joined forces to introduce this weekly information surgery at Swaffham Community Centre, Campingland.

It will give residents a set time and place where they can find advice on matters ranging from housing and benefits to policing issues.

An interpreting service will also be available to help those for whom English is not a first language.

As well as the Safer Neighbourhood Team, the agencies involved include the Iceni Partnership, Flagship Housing and Peddars Way Housing Association.

They will be on hand each Tuesday from 3pm to 5pm to offer help and advice. If information is not immediately available, customers will be signposted to the organisation which can help.

PC Linda McCornish has worked closely with colleagues in partner agencies to introduce the new surgery.

"There are many agencies working in Swaffham which can all help people in different ways, but accessing that information and speaking with the right person can often appear a confusing process.

"Whether you have a housing need, want to report anti-social behaviour or have questioins about your benefits or working environment, the weekly surgery will offer face-to-face contact with someone who can help, or at least point you in the right direction.

"If nothing else it will be a friendly place where people can come for a free cup of tea or coffee and get to know some of the local faces," she said.
