Amy reaches for the sky

A TEENAGE Lynn air cadet has gained her "wings" after a successful solo flight in a microlight at RAF Halton, Buckinghamshire.

Cadet Cpl Amy Ng (18), a member of 42F (King's Lynn) Squadron Air Training Corps, travelled to the base to meet up with five other students on the two-week course.

She was the only cadet from Norfolk and Suffolk to attend.

Students are given the chance to learn how to pilot a Thruster Spirit microlight as well as taking part in team-building and communication and leadership skills.

Amy is planning on returning to gain her private pilot's licence for a microlight.

"I have enjoyed every minute of it. I have learned a lot of new skills and also things about myself. I have built up the confidence to take control and it feels good. Also now I have new friends, not just the other cadets, but the instructors as well," she said.
