Another Lynn nightspot closes
ANOTHER Lynn night spot has closed its doors, continuing a rising trend in the town.
Broad Street's LXIX deli and bar shut up shop the week before last, less than a year after it first opened.
The news comes hot on the heels of the demise of town centre pub Hogshead, night club Zoots and Presnell's Club in Millfleet.
It is not yet clear if there is any chance of LXIX reopening, but it has not been trading since Wednesday, February 27.
LXIX was the venture of well-known local DJ Les Miller, who opened it last summer, and it had recently been promoting itself as a Friday night venue for bands to play. There is no sign on the door offering any explanation and the Lynn News has not been able to contact Mr Miller.
Vancouver Quarter manager Brad Curcillo said while he could not speculate on the specific reasons for LXIX's troubles, it is a difficult market place.
He said: "I don't have any reason as to why he closed, but there appears to be quite a few restaurants in Lynn closing. I think people are spending their money on more tangible products.
"We are in negotiations as far as what LXIX is going to do moving forward, whether it is going to come up with a solution and reopen or close permanently."
The Hogshead, opposite Debenhams, in High Street, closed last month citing the impact of the smoking ban and difficult trading conditions as being to blame.
Zoots closed unexpectedly at the end of January and though area manager David Keetley told the Lynn News it was a temporary break for refurbishment he could not give a date for its relaunch at the time.
