Appeal for caring West Norfolk mentors
A CHARITY offering support, advice and guidance to vulnerable young people is appealing for new mentors to help continue its vital role in the community.
Break launched its volunteer mentoring project in 2006 to give young people in and leaving care the kind of support which is often taken for granted.
They may have suffered abuse, rejection or bullying and do not always have a friend to help them with school work, to share problems or to go to the cinema, shopping or football with.
Mentors must have the ability to listen, help, advise and share their experiences while training will be given to help develop skills.
Volunteers are asked to spare a few hours from time to time and have to get on well with young people.
Break will be holding an opening evening for the volunteer mentoring project at the College of West Anglia, in Lynn, from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, March 6.
