Appetite for learning at Dersingham

CHILDREN were allowed to open their lunch boxes and were given permission to eat their sandwiches and snacks at Dersingham Library on Monday.

It was part of a morning's half-term activity session with a healthy eating theme.

Aimed at young children and their parents and carers, it included a story-telling session and the youngsters were asked to design their favourite sandwich.

"They were full of enthusiasm and thought it was great fun to eat in the library," said library assistant Kyra Cruise. "And they loved the story about a village which built a giant jam sandwich."

Part of the session was aimed at the parents and promoted books about cooking with and for their children.

Dersingham Library has a busy programme lined up for the rest of February which is Love Your LIbrary month.

It is now taking bookings for a village walk on Wednesday, February 27, and on Friday, February 29, between 10am and noon, is introducing Get into the Zone which is a social networking initiative for the over 50s.

This month also sees the launch of a book prescription scheme which aims to help readers with well-being, health and emotional issues.
