Armed burglars hit Stow Bridge
DETECTIVES are appealing for help after armed burglars struck at a Stow Bridge home, stealing a large quantity of cash.
Four men wearing balaclavas and armed with weapons including a sawn-off shotgun, pistol and knives, broke into an address at The Causeway while two householders were watching television.
One of the householders had to be treated for cuts and bruises after the raid at 9.50pm on Thursday, the thieves also making off with jewellery.
The culprits then left at speed in a large dark-coloured saloon-type vehicle.
Hours later it had still not been traced and a search, involving armed officers and police dogs, was begun with house to house inquiries also carried out.
Detective Inspector Paul Chapman said: "The offenders were all white men, one of whom was in his 50s and of a large build. He spoke with a local accent. The remaining three were thought to be in their 20s."
Anyone with information is asked to ring police on 0845 456 4567 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
