Armed robbers strike at Northwold hotel
POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a member of staff at Northwold's Woodland Lodge Hotel was threatened with a gun when armed robbers struck.
Four men, armed with three shotgun-style weapons and an axe, went to the Thetford Road hotel just after 11pm on Wednesday.
A male member of staff was threatened at gun point after the offenders entered the main reception area through a rear door.
The men, wearing dark balaclavas, dark clothing and gloves, then forced him at gun point to a different area where he was made to open a safe.
The offenders left the scene in a dark coloured saloon car - not an estate as previously reported.
The victim, in his 20s, was left shaken but otherwise unhurt.
The offenders were all white men, three believed to be aged between 18 and 22 and the fourth aged about 40 with a large build and "beer belly".
Police are appealing for any witnesses to suspicious activity in the area or to the car or offenders leaving the scene.
Investigating officer Det Con Ian Young can be contacted at Downham Market CID on 0845 456 4567.
Alternatively, information can be passed to police anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
