Baby in Clenchwarton accident

A BABY was involved in a crash between two cars on the A17 at Clenchwarton that led to an hour of diversions for motorists.

One lane of the A17 was closed and motorists were diverted through the village after the crash near to the Station Road junction just before 10am today (Thursday).

It is understood a baby was travelling in one of the two vehicles – a silver Nissan Almera and silver Renault Megan - involved in the crash, but despite initial fears it is not thought the child was hurt.

Firefighters had to cut one person from the wreckage and the road did not reopen fully until just before 11am.

Police said three people were taken to hospital suffering minor whiplash.
