Ballot over Prayer at Hunstanton

THE traditional use of the Lord's Prayer before full meetings of Hunstanton Town Council will come under the spotlight next month.

Members will be asked for their opinions on the custom in a secret ballot at the request of Hunstanton Mayor Richard Bird after a decision on the matter was deferred during Friday's meeting.

Deputy town clerk Chris Amos said: "In a multi-ethnic country the use of the Lord's Prayer could be questioned by councillors or members of the public who are of different religions."
