Bespak consolidates in Lynn, but 27 jobs at risk?
AROUND 27 jobs could be lost at Lynn's Bespak factory as part of the knock-on effect from the company closing its Milton Keynes site.
Bespak has announced the inhaled insulin devices it manufactures for pharmaceutical firm Pfizer at its Milton Keynes site are to be discontinued with all future company operations in the UK to be based in Lynn.
Bespak managing director Chris Hall said the move will see the company's technology and services divisions consolidated into one base in the town, but the reorganisation means 27 positions are now at risk.
He told the Lynn News: "This is not good news for the people at our Milton Keynes facility but in terms of Lynn there will be future growth in the pharmaceutical side of the business based at the site. That is a positive for Lynn."
The closure of the Milton Keynes site will result in the loss of 140 jobs but, other than the 27 possible losses, the 500 positions in Lynn appear to be safe.
Bespak is now owned by US-based parent company Consort Medical, a leader in medical devices for inhaled drug delivery and anaesthesia.
Included among the products it develops and manufactures are metered dose inhaler valves, compliance aids, dry powder devices, disposable facemasks and circuits, laryngeal tubes and emergency medicine breathing equipment.
Bespak will continue to trade under the same name in the UK.
