Bircham house checked after crash

STRUCTURAL checks were carried out on a house at Bircham Tofts after it was hit by a car that left the road on Sunday evening.

Firefighters from Sandringham and Hunstanton and an emergency tender from Lynn were sent to the 8.56pm incident at Pond View after initial reports that people might be trapped.

But a Norfolk Fire Service spokesman said: "Nobody was trapped and the crews made the scene safe where the car had hit a house."

East of England Ambulance Service said the 40-year-old man driving the grey MG ZT Turbo and a child passenger were treated for shock and minor injuries at the scene.

A Norfolk police spokesman said a local builder and the fire service assessed the damage to the house and found it to be structurally safe.
