Books and puzzles help Fakenham church

FUNDING for restoration work at the Church of St Peter and St Paul in Fakenham has received a welcome boost following a successful book and jigsaw sale.

The church needs 28,000 to cover the cost of restoring its great western window, with work needed on both the glass and surrounding stones.

The Rev Adrian Bell said: "We raised just under 800, which we are very pleased with, and we had a good number of people coming along who really enjoyed it."

Work on the window is expected to start in October.

The church has also invested money in a new flagpole for its tower.

The new aluminium structure will cost 2,555 and replaces the olden wooden flagpole which had rotted.
