'Brecks-fast' time to promote local tourism
MEMBERS of East of England Tourism came to Swaffham last Tuesday to see just what the Brecks area has to offer.
Eight members of the EET, which works to promote tourism across the region, enjoyed a local produce lunch at Swaffham's EcoTech Centre as part of a day sampling delights of the locality.
The Brecks is a 370-square mile area stretching from Swaffham to Bury St Edmunds and the day was organised through the Brecks Tourism Partnership which promotes tourism in the area.
The group, escorted by Brecks Project Manager Lynne Finnigan, had lunch supplied by Strattons Hotel from Ash Close, Swaffham.
The hotel firmly believes in using local produce in its dishes.
Owner Vanessa Scott said: "We promote the local rural economy, so badly affected by the decline in agriculture in this area, and are in a unique position to champion small businesses who often have no shop front, marketing skills or budget.
"Food is tastier, fresher and relevant to the landscape in which the hotel is situated".
The visitors enjoyed sampling the local produce which included pork pie and whole baked carrot and beetroot.
The group also visited other venues including Grimes Graves and Brandon Country Park.
