Broadcaster set for Swaffham chat show
The Rt.Hon Baroness Shephard of Northwold
FORMER ITN political editor Michael Brunson, who lives in Norfolk, will be talking about his broadcasting career during a fundraising evening for Swaffham parish church’s restoration appeal next month.
He will be in conversation with Baroness Gillian Shephard of Northwold, the former Education and Employment Secretary, at the Assembly Rooms in Swaffham on Friday, September 28. The evening starts at 7pm and tickets cost £12.50.
Baroness Shephard, the appeal’s president, was MP for South West Norfolk from 1987 to 2005. She is currently chairman of the Association of Conservative Peers in the House of Lords.
Mr Brunson, 72, who was born in Norwich and now lives at Letheringsett, began his broadcasting career at the BBC and later served as Washington correspondent and diplomatic editor of ITN.
He is best known for serving as ITN’s political editor between 1986 and 2000, and as an occasional ITN newscaster.

In 1971, he covered the war in Bangladesh and wrote about the death, starvation and suffering of refugees in West Bengal.
He retired after 32 years at ITN in March 2000 and the same year was awarded the OBE. Since then he has regularly appeared as a political commentator on Sky News and GMTV.
