Burglar may be deported
A LITHUANIAN man from Lynn who admitted to two burglaries should be automatically deported, according to a Norwich Crown Court Judge.
Linas Kazlauskis, aged 18, of 24 Mayflower Avenue, Lynn was sent to a young offenders' institution for one year by Norwich Crown Court on Wednesday.
He had broken into the Lynn houses on the evening of April 15 and was arrested after his DNA was traced by police.
Kazlauskis stole aftershave, wine and a wallet from 70, Cresswell Street. He also broke into 16 Northend Yard and took a Sky box, a remote control black amplifier and some wine.
The court heard that the owner of Cresswell Street, Charlotte Smith, heard Kazlauskis upstairs when she returned home.
Christopher Youell, prosecuting, said that Kazlauskis was drunk at the time and had kicked in the back doors of both properties.
Katharine Moore, defending, said part of Kazlauskis's brain is damaged which requires medication.
She said he was heavily intoxicated at the time of the burglaries.
The Lithuanian entered the UK legally to stay with his father in Lynn to find work.
Judge Peter Jacobs said: "These are unpleasant burglaries. Such burglaries affect the occupiers."
