Burnham Market pub wins award
A BURNHAM Market pub has seen its efforts to create a great racing atmosphere rewarded in a new award scheme.
The Jockey has been named as the regional Racing Pub of the Year after it beat competition from across East Anglia and The Midlands to be shortlisted for national honours.
The award, which is sponsored by Ladbrokes, was launched this year by Racing UK, the Racing Post and the Publican.
Over the past month, beer-loving horse racing fans have been voting for their favourite pubs with all regional winners demonstrating a keen dedication to the sport.
Ladbrokes spokesman Catharine Hopkinson said: "We received hundreds of entries for this award, but The Jockey really stood out as an excellent racing pub.
"We are pleased to reward the owners' dedication to providing the pub's customers with a great atmosphere and racing experience."
Each finalist wins a day at the races for 12 regulars and will be shortlisted for the Racing Pub of the Year 2007.
