Cash boost for children

A PROJECT to help children and families at risk of social exclusion has received a £4.9 million cash boost to ensure its work continues for a further three years.

Norfolk Children’s Fund, which is administered by Norfolk County Council, has been backed by funding from Government ministers, with 1,658,286 being made available annually until 2011.

It offers a broad range of activities covering issues such as anti-bullying, school transition, pastoral care and children who are at risk of offending.

It also supports a range of activities, clubs and centres across the county, including the North Lynn Discovery Centre.

The centre has proved so successful that five young people who began attending in 2001/02 are now about to train to become youth workers themselves.
