Cash for homes?

FOURTEEN new affordable homes could be built if councillors release the cash.

Freebridge Community Housing is hoping to build new homes in Hunstanton, Dersingham, Emneth and Outwell.

This could make a great difference to the 5,808 people on the housing waiting list.

But to make this possible it needs £213,645 from money paid by developers to West Norfolk Borough Council, under section 106 agreements. This money can only be used for affordable housing.

Members of the regeneration, environment and community panel are being recommended to approve the money at their meeting on Wednesday.

If the money is approved Hunstanton could get seven new homes and two for Dersingham if the money is released.

Freebridge chief-executive Tony Hall says the homes will be rented properties.

He said: “These would be a small number of much needed properties and will make a difference in the communities where we are able to build them.”
