Compo out for Poppies
Hunstanton Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal walk around the town started from 'Bishop's Coffee Bar and Restaurant' in the High Street. A FANCY dress Poppy Appeal walk around Hunstanton was a blast – despite the wind and rain encountered on the day.
The Hunstanton Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal walk started from Bishop’s Coffee Bar and Restaurant on the High Street and covered about six miles until calling a halt some five-and-a-half hours later.
All six of the participants in the fancy dress walk dressed up as characters from BBC TV’s long-running comedy The Last of the Summer Wine. It raised £1,000 for the appeal.
David Foulkes, who dressed as loveable rogue and super-scruff Compo said: “I am really happy. It all went to a great cause and the rain didn’t put me off.
“So far I have raised just over £21,000 since I joined in 2000 and my aim is to raise £40,000.
“Indeed, I will continue to raise money though, even after if I get that far.”
