Consultant helps raise over £1,500

A CONSULTANT radiologist from Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital has helped raise more than £1,500 for Norfolk's Big C cancer charity by completing the Staples to Naples Rally.

Dr Martin Rimmer and friends Joshua Foot, Paul Hales and Steve Foot travelled across Europe in a 12-year-old Volvo estate, which had been rescued from a scrapyard and decorated in the style of an F14 fighter plane.

The designs were based on the classic Tom Cruise film Top Gun, with the car being decorated in battleship grey paint and fitted with jet plane tailfins.

Under the banner of Top Gone, a reference to their receding hairlines, the four friends travelled in T-shirts displaying famous nicknames from the film.

The journey involved a number of tasks along the way, including a curious stop in Venice where the four dressed as St Trinians's schoolgirls and carried a car wheel through St Mark's Square.
