Corporate manslaughter case adjourned
A hearing in a corporate manslaughter case against a company running a flower nursery at Terrington St Clement has been adjourned until December 19 by Norwich Crown Court.
PS and JE Ward face charges relating to the death of 26-year-old Grzegorz Pieton, who died on July 15, 2010, from an electric shock caused when the metal hydraulic lift trailer he was towing touched an overhead power line.
The incident happened in the Long Road area of Terrington St Clement while Mr Pieton was working for Belmont Nursery, based in New Roman Bank.
PS and JE Ward faces a charge of corporate manslaughter, in that it unlawfully killed Mr Pieton by gross negligence in breach of its duty to take reasonable care.
The company also faces a charge of failing to ensure the safety of its employees, including Mr Pieton, at work, under the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
