CRIMPLESHAM: Dead mother and son were Romanian
NEWS of the deaths of a mother and son after a car crash at Crimplesham has hit relatives like a thunderbolt, a Romanian newspaper has reported.
The mother, who was certified dead at the scene of the accident on the A134 on Sunday, was named as Ionela Cercel, 20, of Stanesti in Giurgiu county, a town on the Danube in southern Romania near the border with Bulgaria. Her 14-month-old son, who died a few hours later in Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital, was said to have been brought to England for medical treatment at the hospital.
The father, Marian Parvu, said to be 26, who was driving the gold BMW when it hit a tree at about 7.30am, was seriously injured and had to be airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. The report said he was taking the mother and son home from hospital.
Ionela’s mourning family is understood to be facing further heartbreak after hearing that it will cost them $10,000 to bring the bodies home. “We have no money,” they told the newspaper.
