Docking school is 'big, happy family'

DOCKING Primary School has been praised for being like "one big happy family" following its latest Ofsted inspection.

A report by inspector John Brennan has described the school as offering a good quality of teaching and learning along with good care, support and guidance for pupils.

It also states that pupils have an outstanding understanding of the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and are achieving well with standards above average.

Headteacher Mrs Rachael Williams said: "Everyone at the school is delighted with Ofsted's report.

"Inspectors said we live up to our school motto 'we work together, we learn together, we grow together' and it is true that everything we do at the school is about supporting one another and working as a team to help our pupils and school grow.

"We are one big happy family at Docking Primary School and will continue to work together to achieve even more success.

"This inspection was a really positive experience for all of us. We were recognised for the good things that we do and felt inspired to go ahead with the plans we had already made to develop further."

Despite receiving good ratings in a number of assessments the school was told it could improve its effectiveness at the foundation stage.

The report recommends an improvement in the leadership of the foundation stage as a whole and an extension of pupils' knowledge on the lives and customs of people in other cultures.

The school has already made efforts to broaden pupils' experience of other cultures and a multicultural training day has taken place for staff with other schools.

Plans have also been made to visit the Our World festival in the summer to help children learn about other cultures.
