Double delight for breeder
ARAB horse breeder Helen Legood was doubly delighted with her day at the show.
The rosette that she won with her chestnut gelding was special enough but it was even more rewarding because this is a horse that she bred at her Arabian stud at Leziate Drove, Pott Row.
Mrs Legood, who is also an equine sports therapist, said it was only the second time that this horse had been in the show ring.
"The judge pulled us into second place in the first line-up but even though we dropped down one we are still delighted," she said.
It was also a consolation for the fact that she had to leave a two-year-old colt at home. She explained that he had been entered but shortly before the show the colt's field companion chewed his mane.
"There was no way he could come here with half a mane and now we have to wait for it to regrow before he can go anywhere," she said.
