Downham area: 3 raids in 3 days

CASH, jewellery and other property totalling thousands of pounds were stolen during three burglaries in three days in the Downham area.

Gold jewellery and games consoles were snatched during the first break-in, which took place at Southery on Saturday, January 5.

A window was smashed in French doors at the rear of a property in Ringmere Road between 3pm and 7.50pm.

After a search, the raiders made off with a gold bangle, a gold necklace, a Nintendo PS2 console and a Nintendo PS3 console.

Padlocks on two sheds were forced off and a caravan was also forcibly entered during the burglary but nothing was taken.

Four rings worth about 2,000 were snatched when a property in Woodward Close, Shouldham, was targeted between 2.30pm and 6pm on Monday, January 7.

A rear patio window was smashed to gain entry. The stolen items were a diamond ring in a twist design, a ring set with three black opals, a sapphire and diamond flower-style ring and small amethyst ring.

During the third burglary, a property in Ryston Road, West Dereham, was broken into between 3pm on Monday, January 7, and 10am on the Tuesday morning.

Entry was gained through a rear door and a large quantity of cash was taken.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious or has information about any of the burglaries is asked to contact Detective Constable Ian Young at Downham Police Station, 0845 456 4567.
