Disco-loving ladies from a keep fit group in the Downham area have presented £400 from their fundraising efforts to the breast screening unit at Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Suzette Kew, left, and her daughter Jessica Kew and four-month-old granddaughter Elsie Smith, are shown handing over the cheque to senior mammographers Linda Mallett, fourth left, and Alex Aves, centre, at the unit last week. With them, from left, are Jo Gallagher, Vicky Gallagher, Sharon McIvor-Dean and Jackie Melvin.

Mrs Kew said the Disco Fit group meets on Monday and Wednesday evenings, 7.30pm to 8.30pm, at Downham High School’s Bexwell site and Sixth Form Centre at Ryston, respectively, and on Tuesday afternoons, 1.30pm to 2.30pm, at Denver Village Hall.

She said: “We raised £200 at our annual Christmas party through a charity raffle and the other half through a coffee morning in Downham Town Hall, where the girls had baked cakes and I ran a free Disco Fit session.

“I’m now into my third year of running these sessions. We have disco lights and lasers going and dancing in the hall.” Picture: ADAM FAIRBROTHER
