Downham: Death crash horror kills young driver

MORE than 450 friends, schoolmates and family members have joined a tribute website for a Downham teenager tragically killed at the weekend.

Thomas Williams, thought to be 19, suffered fatal injuries when his

green Ford Fiesta, carrying three others, crashed in Barroway Drove in the early hours of Saturday.

A special website on social networking site Facebook was started

within hours of the crash and messages expressing shock and sorrow flooded in.

As the Lynn News went to press yesterday, 458 people had joined, with many visitors leaving touching tributes to the teenager, including his heartbroken mother.

She wrote: "Woke up this morning hoping it was a bad dream. Son, I

love you so much it hurts. I am so proud of you."

A police spokesman said the Fiesta had been travelling through Barroway

Drove, heading away from Nordelph, when it left the road and landed in a field at around 1.15am.

One of the rear seat passengers, another man in his late teens, suffered

serious arm and leg injuries, while the two other passengers were not hurt. Fire crews from Downham, Outwell and Wisbec attended and two

people trapped in the car were released.

Many tributes to Tom, who was educated locally, described him as a kind

"big brother," who was always smiling and laughing.

One read: "So Young! Life's just not fair, rest in peace mate. You'll be

missed by all."

The first message was posted at 6.17am, just five hours after the crash and they continue to pour in as the news spreads.
