Downham women face challenge to keep on running

A RUNNING course aimed at introducing women to the benefits of regular exercise has enjoyed a successful six weeks in Downham.

The sessions, organised through West Norfolk Council, welcomed 24 running novices who progressed from gentle jogging to completing a full five-kilometre run under the guidance of instructors Alison Butler and Anne Hewitt.

The course was held at Downham Sports Centre and it is hoped the women will now join the Downham Dollies running club to continue their new sport.

Miss Butler said: "In the final week they all completed a five-kilometre run as they get ready for Race For Life. They all finished it, which was great.

"From the success we have had, the course should carry on later in the year."
