AN elderly Swaffham man, who had spent Christmas at his daughter's in Lynn, died after he fell down the stairs at her home in the early hours of Boxing Day, an inquest heard.

Retired civil servant and widower Reginald Parker (85), of Valentine Barker Court, Greenhoe Place, had been picked up by his daughter Mrs Moya Marsh on Christmas Eve.

Just after midnight on Boxing Day she heard him going to the toilet before hearing a loud thud and finding him at the bottom of the stairs. He died later the same day at Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Greater Norfolk coroner William Armstrong, who held the inquest yesterday, said Mr Parker died of an acute subdural haemorrhage and recorded a verdict of accidental death.
