Email led to fast plane to China
Foundation studies lecturer Mrs Jane Yeboah read an email almost a year ago which changed her life forever.
Within two weeks of replying to that email she had dropped everything in her normal life – her family and work – for a life in a remote corner of China.
Mrs Yeboah (47) spent four months earlier this year at Shanghai Jianping High School teaching English as a foreign language.
The email last spring to all teaching staff at the college came about because of links the college has with China – some of the college's A level students are from China.
Now Mrs Yeboah, who had the time of her life, is using much of her experience in her classroom in Lynn.
She said she has been able to teach her students about international culture and has included a lot of her personal experiences of China in her day- to-day teaching, including some of the sights and sensations, such as her trip to The Great Wall of China and The Forbidden City.
She added that it had been a great experience for her as a lecturer and has fascinated many of her students
It was a shock for Mrs Yeboah that she had just two weeks to prepare for the trip.
She got her visa the day of her flight, but said: "I would go again any day."
