Emergency planning event in West Norfolk
A terrorist attack was put at the forefront of the minds of representatives from around 60 West Norfolk businesses at an emergency planning event.
Emergency services, terrorism experts and business leaders came together in Lynn's Corn Exchange to sit through a mock attack in a multi-media presentation and talk about how everyone would react.
Norfolk counter terrorism security advisor DC Peter Hawkins said: "Businesses in general need to think more about business continuity.
"I don't think there has been any time better than now when so much information is available for them in terms of how to prepare themselves for a bomb attack or their business going downhill for some other reason, be it flood or power cut or whatever."
The event, Project Argus, mirrors more than 300 similar ones which have taken place across the country to highlight the issues businesses might face if the worst were to happen.
It was run by Norfolk Major Incident Team (Normit), Norfolk County Council, West Norfolk Council and Norfolk Police and also provided a platform for advice on floods and other emergencies businesses might face.
Police have said there is no intelligence to suggest West Norfolk could be a terrorist target, but it is essential for businesses to be vigilant and have contingency plans in place.
Lynn O2 shop worker Matt Pomfrett (23) said: "Although you don't think Lynn would get this kind of thing, I'm leaving here knowing a lot more than when I came."
