Festival Too off to a fire-cracking start
THOUSANDS of people lined Lynn riverbank to enjoy a dazzling firework display on Saturday night marking the launch of this year's Festival Too.
The free music event, now in its 24th year, got under way in style with an opening performance by rock funk band Mister Pink, children's rides and refreshments, topped off with a crowd-pleasing display.
Headline acts this year include soul sensation Beverley Knight, pop group S Club 3 and Eric Faulkner's bay City Rollers, as well as some fantastic West Norfolk bands.
Committee member Mr Alan Taylor said: "It was absolutely brilliant. We were concerned because there was a low-lying fog in The Wash and they had a do in Cromer, which was a failure. We were keeping our fingers crossed and luckily everything was on our side – the fog lifted and although there was a small shower in the afternoon, nobody was put off. Mister Pink played for the first time and went down really well. There was a real family atmosphere with generations of families enjoying themselves. I think it was one of our best firework displays and it was the perfect way to start Festival Too. We are all really looking forward to some more quality music on Friday, everyone's going to have a fantastic time."
Saturday's fireworks were sponsored by Middleton Aggregates.
