Former Lynn college head in line for award
THE FORMER principal at Lynn's College of West Anglia has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.
Peter Stewart, who retired earlier this year, has been nominated in the outstanding leadership category of the Star Awards, which celebrate success in further education.
He was presented with a special certificate in recognition of his achievement at the historic Church House in the grounds of London's Westminster Abbey last month.
He will learn if he is a category winner later this month.
Mr Stewart was nominated by executive director Mrs Jill Francis for the leadership skills he displayed during the merger of the college with Isle College, in Wisbech, last year.
He said: "I regard it as a great honour to have been nominated but to be a good leader you need a good team and the College of West Anglia is full of excellent people and they are the engine of the college."
New principal David Pomfret took over role in the summer.
Category winners will be announced in a special ceremony at Old Billingsgate in London on Monday, November 26.
