A couple from Gaywood welcomed their “miracle baby” into the world in the early hours of New Year’s Day after a long and emotional wait for his arrival.

Shaun Link, 31, and Emma Hallett, 26, who live in Barnwell Road, were relieved to finally meet their baby, who they named Keelan David Douglas Link.

Miss Hallett said: “We’ve been through a lot, Shaun is lucky to even be alive after he had a serious motorbike accident that nearly killed him in 2007.

“We’ve already lost two babies and we were having fertility treatment when I fell pregnant.”

Weighing a healthy 8lb and 7½oz, Keelan was born at 5.40am, five days before his due date, making him the first baby to be born in Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 2013.

Miss Hallett said: “He really is our little miracle and it’s so nice to be home now.

“We just feel complete now having him home –I know it sounds silly but I feel like I got all three of my babies in one.”

She added: “He wasn’t due until January 6, but I went into hospital to be induced and they found I was already in labour so we just had to wait.

“Luckily I was prepared for him to arrive early so we had a nice quiet Christmas counting down to his arrival – you just wait so long for them to arrive and it is such a relief when it finally happens.

“He’s a very calm baby, when we were in hospital he never cried but as soon as we got him home he screamed the place down.”
