Gaywood: Gallop along for a good cause

Asda South Wootton, Community Life champion Tonia King gets ready for their charity race night at Reffley Community Hall on Friday 14th September to raise money for Tickled Pink.

Asda South Wootton, Community Life champion Tonia King gets ready for their charity race night at Reffley Community Hall on Friday 14th September to raise money for Tickled Pink.

A CHARITY is offering punters the chance of an evening at the races without leaving Lynn.

Reffley Community Hall in Gaywood is hosting the event on Friday, September 14. It is being organised in aid of Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign by Tonia King, who is community life champion at the South Wootton store.

Eight filmed races will be projected on to a large screen and Mrs King said: “People can place £1 bets on every race and 25 per cent of the betting money will go to the charity.”

She is appealing to local businesses to sponsor individual races for £15 and have a race named after them. An appeal is also being made for raffle items to boost fundraising on the night.

Tickled Pink raises money for Breast Cancer Care and the Breast Cancer Campaign.

Mrs King said: “Breast Cancer affects many people. My colleagues and I know people in the store who have been affected. That’s why we are eager to make this night a success and raise as much money as possible.”

Race cards cost £5 and the event, which is for over-18s only, will take place from 7.30pm to 11pm.

Mrs King can be contacted for more information on 07538 862336.
