Give kids praise they deserve

WHERE are the Super Kids of West Norfolk?

Only three nominations have so far been received for this year's Lynn News Super Kids awards.

More than 1,000 in prizes is waiting to be won and we know there are many more local youngsters worthy of special recognition.

They may be children of courage, who have bravely coped with serious illness or disability.

They may be kind and caring youngsters who have supported a family member or friend in times of trouble.

They may have worked especially hard for a charity or given their time to a community cause.

They may be a dedicated young sportsman or woman with their sights set on a sporting goal.

The Lynn News Super Kids awards, sponsored by Premier Foods, are a chance for everyone in West Norfolk to highlight and celebrate the achievements and inspiring stories of our children and young people.

Anyone can make a nomination, including relatives, friends, teachers, sports coaches, youth leaders, councillors and parish councillors.

There are three categories:

Achievement at home, at school, in sport, for an organisation or charity;

Personal courage in the face of sickness, disability or some other setback;

Acts of bravery or outstanding initiative in difficult circumstances.

The winner of each category will receive 175 and 150 to donate to their favourite charity.

There will also be an overall winner of Super Kids 2008, who will receive 300 and 200 to donate to his or her chosen good cause.

Every child or young person nominated will be invited with their families to a special awards ceremony at Lynn Town Hall and will receive a Super Kids certificate and gift voucher.

To be eligible, nominees must have been 16 or under on December 31, 2008. The closing date for entries is Monday, March 2, 2009. Entrants from previous years may be re-nominated. The Editor reserves the right to decide the most appropriate nomination category.

The awards are also supported by West Norfolk Council and Norfolk Police.
