A cookery demonstration proved to be a sizzling success by raising hundreds of pounds for two good causes.

Margaret Burns and friends organised the demonstration in Heacham Public Hall to support Macmillan Cancer Support and Scotty’s Little Soldiers.

Nearly 60 people went along to watch and taste the food prepared by Sian Fox, from Sainsbury’s Try Team.

During the event, Sian demonstrated how to prepare a pate, stir fry along with two desserts.

Two charities receive donations of £150 each from the ticket sales.

But Mrs Burns also raised a further £337.50 for Scotty’s, which helps the families of service men and women, with supermarket and shop collections.

She said: “Sian was very entertaining.

“Taster pots were sent around the audience.”
