Hello . . . Ruby Tuesday!

THE Lynn News today launches a brand new column featuring diary snippets from our very own girl about town.

Ruby Tuesday will appear in her weekly column every Tuesday and, if you have spotted something weird or wonderful, or anything that made you laugh out loud, you can email her on ruby@lynnnews.co.uk!

SPOTTED in Lynn's Vancouver Quarter at 7pm on a Wednesday night. Three

ducks walking in single file through the bus station and past the entrance to Sainsbury's. They seemed to know where they were going.

A LETTER arrives from a social club wanting to advertise its annual meeting. The letter's addressed to the Lynn News, Lies House, Purfleet Street. Never was an "m" in the middle more sorely missed!

SPOTTED: two young mums with pushchairs eyeing the new Chopstix restaurant, in Broad Street, with suspicion. After peering through the window, one said: "Nah, let's go Burger King."

ONE fast food restaurant in Lynn town centre is offering an "After School Special" – fries and a fizzy drink. We'll beat this childhood obesity epidemic yet.

A CHILD aged around 11 was seen dragging on a cigarette in Broad Street.

CHARITY collectors in the High Street trying to catch the attention of people hurrying past. In desperation, one shouted: "I really like your face". They must have been desperate because they actually stopped the Editor. He normally escapes – he doesn't fit the profile. It's a polite way of saying he's too old.

A SIGN at the back of the former Woolworths shop, in new Conduit Street, warns the area would be "in use" from yesterday (15). Finally a new store for the town? Wilkinsons is the dead cert bet, I've heard.

DESPITE efforts to fill potholes on the roads around Tuesday Market Place, some nasty holes remain, particularly along the stretch past Ward Gethin's offices and the Mayden's Head pub and towards the mini-roundabout near Prezzos restaurant.

LEGENDS of customer service: Doris at Greggs in High Street, Lynn – always a smile. Let me know your legend and we'll give them a mention.

THE Card Factory in the Vancouver Quarter has devoted the same space to displaying Mothering Sunday cards as it did to its Christmas selection – and last week the numbers of people flocking in there to buy their mum a card was almost at the same level as the festive season. It's really caught on, this Mum thing.

A CHEMIST in Lynn suggested anti-wrinkle cream was the perfect Mother's Day present – were any mums insulted this year?

SPOTTED at Lynn bus station, a 13-week-old Yorkshire Terrier leaping to the defence of its owner after a youth nearly barged into both of them, while jumping a barrier. The Terrier was terrific.
